yes, co-washing allows you to cleanse the scalp just as effectively as shampoo w/o the drying effects and stripping that most shampoos do to your hair. Suave and Vo5 are really good cheap conditioners (less than a dollar) that are really good for co-washing.
You only really need warm water and your finger tips to massage the dirt and build up off of your scalp to clean it properly. Conditioners, as opposed to shampoos, clean the scalp as well as moisturize the hair all in one step.
